A Word from the Government of Canada

The Honourable James Moore

The 2012 Royal Tour of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in celebration of Her Majesty’s 60-year reign as Queen of Canada is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the role of the Crown in Canada.

This special Diamond Jubilee Tour will also provide Canadians with the opportunity to reflect on the concept of service as both a royal and national value, honouring Her Majesty’s exceptional record of service to our country, as well as the contributions of Canadians to building a more compassionate society.

The 2012 Royal Tour offers us a chance to honour this service and engage Canadians—particularly our youth—in learning more about the role of the Crown in our system of government and to encourage Canadians to continue our record of national and community service as a defining value of our country.

As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, I invite Canadians of all ages to join in Royal Tour celebrations from May 20 to May 23, 2012, and to continue to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee throughout 2012.

The Honourable James Moore
